Ex-Garo Union chief no more
SHILLONG: The Founder president of All Assam Garo Union, 88-year-old Levingstone Kongkal Sangma passed away on March 16 at his residence in Adinggre village, Maligaon, Guwahati city. He was born in Nogolpara village in West Garo Hills to Lt. Najang Mrong Marak and Lt. Balji Kongkal Sangma. He was married to Smalline Raja Marak of Gohalkona village for more than 43 years. He worked as a pharmacist briefly at Satribari Christian Hospital & for more than 40 years at Gauhati University Hospital from where he retired. His funeral was held on March 17 and he is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons and daughter-in-law.
CCP elects office bearers
SHILLONG: The Commucratic People’s Party (CPP) elected office bearers with an aim to bring new changes in the political and social life of the people. In a statement issued here, Wansaiñbor A. Lyngwi, the convener of CPP said the author of Commucracy has a vision that the rule of democracy, communism, dictatorship etc., jeopardizes the social life of people.
MHIS registration anomalies
SHILLONG: Complaints have surfaced about the registration of MHIS as the authorities are giving only limited tokens to those who are willing to register. The affected persons have informed that only 30 tokens were given to those who wanted to register at the Directorate of Health Services. Laitumkhrah on Tuesday from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Those dealing with the registration asked people who were on the premises to go away. When contacted, an official said the government will look into the matter.
