SHILLONG: The Confederations of Meghalaya Social Organizations (CoMSO) criticized the BJP’s manifesto asserting that BJP wants to replace the indigenous people of north east with illegal Bangladeshis.

In a statement issued here, the CoMSO reacted to the BJP’s manifesto wherein the BJP has vowed to  enactment of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) despite several voices of protests from the Northeastern people.

Condemning the BJP and its manifesto, the organisation said it was an insult to the indigenous people of Northeast as a whole.

“We warn the BJP and other parties not to interfere with our way of life and leave us be as we are. If the BJP or any party for that matter tries to forcefully implement CAB in the State, then be rest assured that the sons of the soil are ready to protect our motherland at any cost,” the statement from the organization said.

The organization observed that the BJP’s arguments of religious persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan were false and concocted and the BJP is trying to mislead the citizens of the country.

The organisation questioned whether any such claims of persecution in such countries were raised by India before the world forum such as the United Nations.

“CoMSO would also like to know, what is the action the government have taken to pressurized these three nations to stop religious persecution, if any, and whether any sanctions were imposed against them?” the statement said.

The organisation said it would allow any party to introduce CAB and any other alike legislation which seeks to grant citizenship and shelter to the illegal immigrants and would fight tooth and nail to resist such an attempt to dilute demography, culture and heritage.
