SHILLONG: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has fixed the re-polling at Konachar polling station in Selsella Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC)  on April 15  from  7 am till  4 pm.

This was informed by the  Principal Secretary of the Election Commission to the   Returning Officer

Simultaneous elections were held for Tura Lok Sabha and Selsella Assembly seats on Thursday.

However, there was a mismatch in the EVMs due to human error  since there were two EVMs in the booth and the presiding officer there connected the ballot unit meant for Lok Sabha election with the control unit of the Assembly by-poll and the control unit for the Lok Sabha seat was connected with the ballot unit for the by-poll.

Following the mismatch, the State Election Commission had urged the  ECI to conduct re-polling in the particular polling station.

The letter from the ECI said that  poll taken on Thursday in the particular polling station stands as void.

In the polling which was held on Thursday, 668 voters exercised their franchise at Konachar polling station for Lok Sabha election while 674 voters voted in the by-election.

There are altogether 712 voters in the particular polling station.
