SHILLONG: The teachers of deficit schools have not received their salaries for the past three months (March to May).
Informing this, Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) president, Babu Kular Khongjirem, said, “If the government is really concerned for the welfare of teachers, it should release their salaries immediately”.
He said the SSLC results will soon be declared, but the hard work of the teachers is not rewarded by the Education department.
“Students, parents and guardians may enjoy and get excited after the SSLC results, but poor teachers will be in a pitiable condition as they have not been paid their salaries,” he said.
The executive committee of KJDSTA in its meeting held on Friday decided to meet the director on Friday to apprise him of all the pending issues of the teachers.
