SHILLONG: After the recent feud between the cardiology department and the Director of the NEIGRIHMS over the supply of stents and other equipments, another tiff has occurred in the institute over the sudden postponing of the examinations for Doctorate of Medicine in Cardiology and super specialty Post Doctorate course.
The cardiology department takes two students every year for the super specialty Post Doctorate course and as per schedule of the examination; Synrang B Warjri and Rondeep Kumar Nath Sivan went to sit for the examinations but were shocked to find that the tests have been cancelled.
According to doctors, after the examinations were postponed, the doctors of the cardiology department wanted to meet the Director seeking clarification but there was no response from the administration over the sudden postponing of the examination.
Later, the aggrieved doctors met the deputy director and were assured that attempts would be made to have a meeting with the examination controller and others involved in conducting the examination.
“There was no information and intimation about it and last year also there was a problem and so both of us came to the director’s office to talk about it but he refused to meet us,” said Rondeep Kumar Nath Sivan.
He alleged that when they refused to budge from the visitor’s room until they discuss the issue, the director asked the guards to call the police.
Meanwhile, Synrang said even last year the same issue had surfaced during examination and it was delayed.
Synrang said , “We as students want to give our exams and move out. If you have a problem with the department you have to solve it with the department and why are you doing this to the students”.
