Awareness programme on Mission Organic held in two GH blocks

TURA: An awareness programme on Mission organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER) was organised by the District Horticulture Officer and Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) of West Garo Hills at Selsella and Dadenggre C&RD Blocks recently.

As part of the programme, the farmers of these two blocks were given awareness on how to get the Organic certification of their farm produce and for different value added products. It may be mentioned that different crops according to the availability in the villages are selected for this scheme. In Selsella C&RD Block, crops like cashew nut and black pepper were selected while in Dadenggre C&RD Block, pineapple and black pepper were the chosen crops. The information on how to get the certification, the procedures, importance of getting certified products and the benefits of getting Organic Certification was also explained in detail by Horticulture Development Officer of Tikrikilla C&RD Block, C M Momin.

The programme was attended by ADH (G) J H R Marak and Project Director ATMA T M Momin besides Block Technology Managers and Assistant Technology Managers of ATMA and Horticulture Development officers.
