RTI activist writes to CM on agricultural university

SHILLONG: Pressure is mounting on Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to pursue setting up of Central Agriculture University (CAU) in Meghalaya.
Arju Dkhar, who filed an RTI query in this regard, petitioned the chief minister regarding the need to set up the CAU at the earliest.
Dkhar also quoted a reply he received from Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stating that the “Act governing CAU, Imphal was amended, therefore, fulfilling the requirement of setting up a separate CAU at Barapani, Meghalaya’’.
In this context, Dkhar said in his letter to the chief minister that the state government can follow up on the matter so that the setting up of CAU will become a reality.
