TURA: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe on Saturday launched the Electors Verification Program (EVP) at Asiragre locality of Williamnagar in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), Lavenstone Ch Marak, the District Manager, Common Services Centre, Nokmas, citizens, election staff and other dignitaries.
Lauching the programme, the Deputy Commissioner, asked all the Village Level Enterpreneurs (VLEs) to spread awareness on the roles, functions and the services which can be delivered to the people in rural areas.
While speaking about the importance of Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC), he urged all the stakeholders in the electoral registration process to ensure 100 per cent enrolment in the district. He also informed the gathering that the Election Commission of India is trying to simplify the registration process by empowering the Common Services Centres (CSC) for enrolment, correction and deletion of the electors and urged the people of the region to utilise their services. The ADC (Election), while delivering the welcome address, highlighted the functions of the CSC in the electoral process of the country.
Michael Jose Sangma, District Manager, CSC, spoke at length about the roles and functions of the CSCs through the VLEs thereby enabling the people to save time and money.
A short power point presentation on EVP, use of mobile apps and submission of check-list through the Booth Level Officers was given by Sunny I G Momin.
Later, the DC also distributed banners and pamphlets to all the VLEs.
