SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) state youth wing received a reply to an RTI which said that the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has issued 344 trading licences from April 1 till July 31.
The KHNAM sent a memorandum to the Executive Member (EM) in-charge of Trade, Paul Lyngdoh stating that the KHADC has taken the issue of trading licence very lightly.
The KHNAM expressed concern that the KHADC till date has not clarified on the number of licences issued by the Executive Committee referring that the KHADC-Trading by Non-Tribal Regulation Act, 1954 has provided limit for the committee to issue licences.
