Curbs on publicity for Shella bypoll

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Friday issued an advisory prohibiting publication, printing, circulation, distribution, display, telecast, broadcast etc of advertisements, appeals, songs, audio & visual clippings, flags, signboards, flex, posters, banners and various other forms of publicity in connection with the October 21 bye-election without receiving due certification from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee.
Besides, media houses have been asked to exercise caution and to refrain from broadcasting any content which may cause undue influence in favour of an intending candidate or party or which may inadvertently violate the enforced Model Code of Conduct in the district.
