Army, Police nab ULFA (I) militant in Upper Assam

GUWAHATI: Close on the heels of the apprehension of an ULFA (I) cadre in the area recently, troops of the Indian Army and Assam police carried out a joint operation and nabbed another cadre from the proscribed outfit in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam on Friday. Based on intelligence inputs, the team launched a number of operations in the district and apprehended an active cadre of ULFA (I), identified as Rituraj Asom, from Kathalguri reserve forest. Recoveries from the operation included an AK-81 series rifle, 60 live bullets and two magazines. The militant and the recoveries have been handed over to police for further investigation, an official statement issued here on Sunday said.
