MAWKYRWAT: The Federation of Khasi-Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) Langrin Circle on Thursday met Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) district, LK Diengdoh regarding the problems faced by youths of Ranikor Civil Sub-Division in applying for various posts under the District Selection Committee (DSC), SWKH.
General Secretary of FKJGP Langrin Circle, Balse Kharbani said that the federation had requested the EAC to change it from online application to offline for all candidates because there are no cyber cafes.
Network connection is a problem and cyber cafes in other places are taking advantage by charging Rs 400-500 for each candidate, it added.
Kharbani also said that the FKJGP had requested the EAC to extend the last date of submitting applications and to allow the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ranikor Civil Sub-Division to collect it so that it will ease the problems of the youths from far flung areas.
He said that Diengdoh informed them that the District Administration had arranged the Rainbow Common Service Centre (RCSC) for helping the candidates to apply the posts and had fixed the rate of Rs 75 per candidate.
However, the EAC did not assure anything regarding the extension of the last date of receiving application.
“We are happy with the initiative taken by the district administration” Kharbani stated.
However, he said that the federation will follow-up with the Rainbow Common Service Centre to see if there is any problem in network connection or whether they follow or not the rate fixed by the government.
“If there is any problem, we will meet the EAC again or the Deputy Commissioner and asked them to post one person at the block office who will be overseeing the online application of the candidates from Ranikor area,” the general secretary said.
