Mawkyrwat: Amidst protest in Shillong and other parts of the North East against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the DC of South West Khasi Hills, Isawanda Laloo, has appealed to the people of the district to cooperate with the district administration in maintaining peace and tranquillity within the district.“The office of the deputy commissioner would like to appeal to all the Myntri, Sordar, Dorbar Shnong, Seng Longkmie, Seng Samla, NGOs, churches and all the people of the district to cooperate with District Administration so that peace can be maintained within the district,” Laloo said in a statement. Laloo said that the appeal was issued especially due to the ongoing protests against the CAA in the city and other parts of the North East, which was marred by violence. “Even though no one is forbidden from expressing their views which is peaceful in nature, it should not bring any incident which may create fear psychosis in the minds of people,” she added.
Therefore, the DC asked people to be cautious and make sure that no incident of damaging public or private properties, which may affect peace, takes place, especially at a time where people are preparing for Christmas celebrations.
