SHILLONG: State president of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Jamil Ahmed has supported the demand of the people with regard to implementation of ILP in the state and has prayed that Meghalaya gets full exemption from the amended Citizenship Act in the early 2020. He also said that Centre should roll back the controversial Act.
“While wishing my fellow citizens of the state and country a happy New Year, I wish and pray that 2020 brings peace, happiness and prosperity in our lives,” Jamil said in a statement issued here.
Jamil also said that the exercise of NRC across the country, as stated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will cost the people dearly, especially during the present crisis faced by the economy.
“I hope and pray that the central government will come to their senses and drop the idea of exercising NRC in the entire country,” he said.
He also hoped that the Centre would leave their dictatorial attitude and consult all the states and other stakeholders before taking any decision that may affect the nation.
