4 suspects in minor’s rape case at large

SHILLONG: Shillong Police, so far, have arrested the driver of SPTS bus, a friend of the minor girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted on the night of January 29, however, the four masked miscreants who kidnapped the girl still remain at large.
Police sources said that the friend of the girl was arrested after he surrendered before the police.
Earlier, the Women’s Empowerment Committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly had slammed authorities, including East Khasi Hills police, for lack of professionalism while dealing with the alleged sexual assault of the 14-year-old girl.
The committee has decided to summon the East Khasi Hills superintendent of police, medical superintendent of Ganesh Das Hospital, the counselor and the child protection officer for an update on the entire incident.
FKJGP meets girl’s kin
Meanwhile, the FKJGP Malki Circle, led by its president Wilfortis Lyngdoh Mawphlang, on Wednesday, met the family members of the 14-year-old and extended help to the family. They demanded that the hospital should also give proper treatment to the minor. The FKJGP also urged the government to help the girl in gaining her health physically and mentally.
The federation demanded the Police department to track the perpetrators and to arrest them. It also met WF Kharlukhi, Assistant Health Officer of the hospital regarding the matter.
