SHILLONG: The IIM Shillong held a condolence meeting which was attended by the entire fraternity on the institute premises on Tuesday, where rich tributes were flown in memory of Prof. Tapas Kumar Giri, a lost friend, colleague, and mentor to many.
Tapas Kumar Giri, associate professor and faculty of Environment Management and Sustainable Business Strategies, Inclusive Growth and Entrepreneurship Management, Agribusiness Management & Rural Marketing and a longtime instructor and mentor to the student community at IIM Shillong, breathed his last on Monday following grave illness over the past sixteen months.
Prof. Giri enjoyed a long and distinguished career with over 22 years of research and consultancy experience including PhD in Environment Management.
His well-known conduct of treks for new entrants to immerse them in knowledge of local tradition, and culture of forest conversation, straight talk, encouraging attitude, approachability and leadership initiatives in conducting the Institute’s Annual International Conference on Sustainability over the years are among the most visible of Giri’s contributions.
More importantly, he was there for students, when they needed a friendly conversation.
