SHILLONG: Mawsynram MLA HM Shangpliang has filed a complaint against a wholesaler for not supplying rice since February.
In a letter to the DC of East Khasi Hills, the MLA said, “I am lodging this complaint to you against Mangkara Shongwan, the wholesaler of Mawsynram Dongshiliang, Kenbah, Kenmynsaw and other villages for not supplying rice since February. Due to the lockdown, the villagers in these areas are facing acute crisis of rice. And when government is not providing rice through its system it is depriving the people from their rights.”
Shangpliang urged the deputy commissioner to initiate immediate steps to deliver rice to the affected villages and take action against the erring wholesaler.
