Curfew extended

JOWAI/KHLIEHRIAT/TURA: In view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19, several districts of the state have decided to extend the curfew in order to curtail the spread of the disease.
In West Jaintia Hills, the curfew will come into effect from April 19 midnight to midnight of April 24 while in East Jaintia Hills district, the curfew will start from 6 am on Monday until further order. West Garo Hills District Administration also extended the curfew from 6 am of April 20 to 6 am of April 25.
In Khliehriat, the District Magistrate has also stated that all curfew passes are suspended except for essential services, government servant on official duty, Public Distribution System (PDS), goods carrier, headman car passes (on emergency only) and medical emergencies.
In West Jaintia Hills, the District Magistrate has informed that the order will not affect the arrangement made for Fair price Shops and identified local retailers and grocery shops will open on Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and identified wholesalers on Tuesday and Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.
The District Magistrate has further informed that all curfew passes issued before April 16 barring essential services and medical emergencies are suspended.
In Tura, weekly and regular markets, commercial and financial establishments in West Garo Hills district, (Tura Main Market and other highway main market including those in the Meghalaya-Assam border) are also ordered to be closed.
