SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) urged the state government and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to punish all those involved in harassing train passengers in Bihar recently.
In a statement issued here, HYC assistant general secretary Isaac W Basaiawmoit said that the organisation is shocked and saddened to learn that returnees from North East had to face such ordeal when they reach Bihar.
It may be mention that, on reaching Bihar on Sunday last, a group of residents from Bihar tried to barge into the Shramik Express in which stranded citizens from North East were travelling. The intruders pelted stones, smashed windowpanes and attack the train with sticks.
‘The state government and the Center should ensure that such incidents should not be repeated in the future’,Basaiawmoit said in the statement.
