SHILLONG: Hoteliers from across the city have been distraught, almost on the verge of collapsing and are in acute need of government assistance, due to the complete halt in tourism-related businesses as a result of the COVID-19-induced lockdown.
In a letter to the chief minister, state Lok Janshakti Party has forwarded plea of 14 such hoteliers who have appealed to the state government for redressal of their plight.
The guest house owners and hoteliers have expressed concern over fund constraints, especially relating to payment of staff salaries and rent to property owners, which, according to them, ranges from Rs 50,000 to 1,50,000.
