NONGPOH: In light of the alleged grievances of the residents of Umsamlem village, from where earlier a 70-year-old COVID-19 positive patient was detected, the Khasi Students’ Union North Khasi Hills District Unit, on Thursday, donated rice, dal, onions and potato to the village.
It may be mentioned that the government later discovered that the elderly man’s case was a false one.
The union alleged that the residents have not received any assistance from the government while the error was not on their part but fully the government.
President of the union, Ferdynald Kharkamni said that the government should bear the medical expenses of the victims for having physically and mentally tortured them by declaring the 70-year-old man as infected with COVID-19.
