Curbs eased in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: With areas of Byrnihat, Jorabat and Khanapara being under lockdown in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in Assam, the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi has issued a slew of directives allowing few shops to function.
In a statement on Tuesday, the DC has allowed all fair price shops, identified groceries and essential items shops, vegetable, fruits, meat vendors to function from 9 am up to 12 pm every day till July 15.
“Identified mobile repair shops and services will also be allowed to open in their respective localities. However, shops along the National Highway are not allowed to open,” the statement said.
The DC has also allowed industries, factories, warehouses dealing with essential commodities to function with minimum staff stationed within their premises. However, no labourer will be allowed from outside.
The DC has also directed labourers to strictly adhere to standard operation procedures in order to avert any possible spread of COVID-19.
Allaying fears of availability of essential commodities, the DC has assured that adequate stock is available and that there is no need for people to resort to panic-buying.
