SHILLONG: In response to the all India protests against the ‘anti-labour’ policies by the central government, the Meghalaya state council of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) held its meeting at Quinton road, Shillong on Friday, said a statement issued by the union.
The AITUC, along with other like-minded trade unions, has launched a nationwide protest to roll back the labour policies. The Central government failed in getting its own orders implemented in regard to the payment of wages to workers and no retrenchment to be carried during lockdown period”, the union said.
“Instead it withdrew its own decision in the Supreme Court after the employers of some companies approached the court,’ the statement said.
