Assault
Govinda Rishi lodged a complaint that on June 28, around 4.30 pm, one of his neighbours, Tinku Rishi entered his house at Rishipara, Tura and assaulted his daughter with bamboo stick. Later, the accused also assaulted the complainant and his wife, reportedly with iron rod. In the incident, all the three victims sustained injuries. Further, one Mintu Rishi, brother of the accused, threatened them to leave the place and to burn their house. In a separate complaint, Tinku Rishi said that on June 28, around 6.30 pm, his uncle Govindra Rishi quarreled with him and later assaulted and stabbed the complainant with a knife.
On July 5, around 5.30 am, unidentified persons assaulted Deibor Kurbah (29) at Langkyrding Mihngi, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.
Monsing Rongpe lodged a complaint that on the night of June 30, one of their relatives — Sing Rongpe — assaulted the complainant’s brother Bandang Rongpe (22) at Pynker-B village, Ri Bhoi. As a result, the victim sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to PHC Byrnihat and later to NEIGRIHMS.
Stone pelting at truck
On July 2, around 1 pm, miscreants pelted stones at a moving truck (AS-18C-4368) driven by Md. Makibar Rahman (43) at Umlyngkdait village near Nongpoh. As a result, the driver sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
Break-in
Mayangai Jajo lodged a complaint that on July 5 morning that as per CCTV footage captured inside the complex, two unidentified persons broke into her shop at MES Shopping Complex, Spread Eagle Falls, Shillong. However, report of the stolen item(s) is yet to be ascertained.
Bakul Paul lodged a complaint that on the intervening night of July 3 and 4, miscreant(s) broke into his shop near Dreamland Cinema Hall, Police Bazar, Shillong, and stole Rs 4,000 and readymade garments valued around Rs 40,000.
Billa D Sangma lodged a complaint that in the first week of April, miscreant(s) broke into the Model School at Kherapara in West Garo Hills, and stole materials valued around Rs 21,550.
Theft
Ayesh Kr Mohanty of New Kench’s Trace, Shillong, lodged a complaint that miscreant(s) stole drill machine, cutter machine, bathroom fittings, etc.
Duped
Laxmi Chettri lodged a complaint that between March 20 and 25, she received one anonymous phone call, in which the caller asked for her debit card details in order to initiate a refund of a returned item purchased from Amazon. Later, the complainant found that Rs 20,996 has been fraudulently withdrawn from her account without her knowledge.
Cattle stolen
Ribha Siangshai lodged a complaint that on the night of July 2, two persons — Rakhel Sumer and Pyndap Suting — stole two heads of cattle from her cowshed at Lapangap village, West Jaintia Hills. On July 3, morning, the stolen cattle were found at Mynsngat village.
Fraud
Asmitha M Sangma lodged a complaint that on July 1, she received one anonymous phone call, wherein she was asked to deposit Rs 3,200 in order to claim the cash prize of Rs 4,20,000 purportedly won in a lottery draw. The unknown caller kept asking the complainant to deposit more money, and subsequently she ended up depositing a sum of Rs 36,900.
Monica Das lodged a complaint that on June 30, a sum of Rs 50,000 was withdrawn from her account without her knowledge.
