SHILLONG: Following the government nod to resume operations of cyber cafes, the state government has now laid down the protocols for their functioning.
In a statement, the Information Technology and Communications Department said that as per the standard operating procedures (SOP) all registered cyber cafes will limit the number of persons entering the establishment based on the space inside the place.
The SOP states that equipment such as desktop, keyboard & mouse, table, chair, door, windows, curtains, etc, should be sanitised at least thrice a day.
A hand sanitiser should be placed at the entrance of the cyber cafe for public use, while the owner or operator will ensure that all persons entering the place should wear masks at all time and that they follow social distancing norms.
The cyber cafes will operate only on days and time as allowed by the respective deputy commissioners.
Cash transactions, if any, at the cyber cafe, should not be done with bare hands but use gloves for transacting cash.
The owner/operator of the cyber cafe will have to keep the village leader like the Rangbah Shnong etc informed regarding the timings. They will also have to ensure that all protocols are strictly adhered to.
