Dalai Lama prays for ailing Abe
Dharamsala: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said he has great respect for Shinzo Abe’s leadership and expressed concern about the retiring Japanese Prime Minister’s declining health.
“I pray that your treatment will be successful,” he wrote, adding: “It is admirable that you have considered the greater good of the country and decided to step down from the position of Prime Minister in order to receive medical attention.” (IANS)
Opening of weekly markets extended
New Delhi: Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Sunday extended the timeline of opening of weekly markets in the national capital for one more week on trial basis from Monday onward on per day per zone basis.
As per the order, issued on Sunday, one weekly market shall be allowed to function on trial basis per day per zone in all three Municipal Corporations, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment Board from August 31 to September 6, except in containment zones. (IANS)
Pak national arrested in UP
Noida (UP): A Pakistani woman has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida for allegedly violating visa rules, Gautam Buddh Nagar Police officials said on Sunday. The woman, identified as Nausheen Naaz from Karachi in Pakistan, was held on Saturday. She was staying with her husband at their Ajmeri Gate home in Delhi on a long-term visa, the officials said.
