Staggered opening of shops to continue

SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has informed that permitted activities as well as commercial and private establishments will continue to remain open daily from 8 am to 8 pm in Shillong Urban Agglomeration besides other parts of the district.
In an order on Sunday, the DC informed that all standalone shops from fixed premises and shops in shopping malls/complexes are allowed to open daily as per the aforementioned timing. Shops with allotted serial numbers 1, 3 and 5 will open in Glory’s Plaza, JM Towers, Dmar Complex, Hira Market, Jivan Ram complex (Bhutia Market), Rapsang Market Complex (Mawlonghat), Municipal parking lot (Mawlonghat), Anjalee parking lot (29-Cantonment) and Khasi market below Jaiaw Taxi stand at Motphran, will operate as per the specified arrangement.
Restaurants, cafes and food outlets will also open daily between 8 am and 8 pm with strict adherence to the SOPs.
Hotels have also been permitted to resume operations subject to compliance with the SOP of the Tourism department.
In the order, the DC also mentioned about the reopening of tourist places for locals starting October 16.
The order said once opened, all SOPs should be strictly followed at the spots.
Iewduh shops
Meanwhile, the order reiterated that 1245 numbers of shops in Iewduh will open three times a week whereby 623 shops will open per day from 8am to 6 pm.
