SHILLONG: The Executive Committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will summon traditional heads to seek clarification on two separate construction activities along Meghalaya-Assam border.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Titos Chyne informed that there was an encroachment in Khanapara in which a three-storeyed building was constructed in the area falling under Meghalaya side.
He asserted that the building is being constructed illegally, while also informing that it is a pre-engineered building for a transit camp. The Council, therefore, decided to summon the Syiem of Raid Marwet and Hima Mylliem to give their clarification to the EC about the illegal construction and on what grounds the building came up.
The CEM also spoke about the construction of the bridge in Balakhowa, Ri Bhoi, which was earlier stalled but activities have currently resumed and it is almost complete.

He said that directions were given to the Acting Syiem of Hima Nongspung to conduct an inspection of the area and take further course of action. “But it is not known what he has done till date. He will be summoned to clarify on this as it has affected the Meghalaya-Assam border situation, especially in areas falling under the Council”, Chyne said.
