Commemorative coins to honour BSS founder

SHILLONG, Nov 23: Commemorative coins of denomination Rs 100, Rs 50 and Rs 10 will be released to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Srimat Swami Pranavanandaji Mahara, the founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS), a worldwide philanthropic organisation, by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India, a statement said.
Earlier, the secretary of BSS, Shillong, Swami Purnabratananda Maharaj, called on the Union Finance Ministry, following which the decision was materialised.
The Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd has been asked to provide the paper designs of commemorative coins and draft gazette notification in English and Hindi for this proposal.
