MLA plans to connect villages

SHILLONG, Dec 14: Local MLA, Samlin Malngiang, on Monday visited the Lum Diengiei area and announced that he will come up with a proposal that will connect Mawmaram, Nongthliew, Mawmih and Mawlyndep.
Speaking to reporters, Malngiang informed that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has called the tender, the DPR has also been prepared for the Western Bypass from Sumer to Mawlyndep up to Sohiong Bypass.
He said Lum Diengiei offers people a bird’s-eye view of Shillong, Umiam, Kyllang Rock and also the Himalayas. Informing that Lum Diengiei is the second highest peak in Khasi Hills after Shillong Peak, the legislator said, “With better road connectivity, we will be able to promote tourism in Lum Diengiei. We will have proper infrastructure such as homestays, mini parks, etc”.
