Programme on preventing gender-based violence

SHILLONG, Dec 17: Women’s College Shillong and Women’s College Higher Secondary, in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Social Welfare department, organised a two-day orientation programme on ‘Gender Based Violence and its Prevention’ which concluded on Wednesday, a statement issued here informed.
The programmed was organised to commemorate 16 days UN Activism from November 25 to December 10 on ‘Gender Based Violence’ for students and teachers of the institute.
Resource persons – Theilin Phanbuh, Chairperson of Meghalaya State Commission for Women, representatives from the State Police, Supriya Das, SDPO, Sardar Police Station and B Jyrwa, Deputy Superintendent of Police, besides Advocate Suparna Shyam and representatives from NGOs working in the field of women and child rights.
Balarisa Lyngdoh and Shannon Masser from Faith Foundation participated and oriented the participants on various topics.
