Trekking spot at Wahkhen reopens

SHILLONG, Jan 3: Renowned for its traditional bamboo bridges constructed on huge rocks, the Mawryngkhang Tourist Trekking spot at Wahkhen, Pynursla, has reopened on Saturday in conformity with strict COVID-19 protocols.
Incidentally, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council assistant engineer, Manikton Khongsti, also informed that Rs 2 lakh will be released by the Council as financial assistance to the Tourism Promoter Trekking Society, Wahkhen.
The secretary of Society, Babu Kular Khongjirem, stressed on maintaining cleanliness of the area by not throwing plastics on the venue. He also informed that the entry fees will be Rs 30 for students with uniform and Rs 50 for children, while adults will be charged Rs 100.
