Dy CM to help ‘struggling’ farmers

SHILLONG, Jan 10: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has assured to provide assistance to farmers who have been struggling due to the aftermath of the African Swine Fever (ASF).
During a meeting with Hills Farmer Union (HFU) leaders, Commander Shangpliang and Alfondbirth Kharsyntiew, Tynsong instructed the officials of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department to find out how many pigs were deceased since the organisation sought compensation to the farmers.
With regard to the avian flu or bird flu cases being reported in other states across the country, the deputy chief minister said that preventive measures are being put in place.
