TURA, Feb 6: Members of the The Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) announced on Saturday that they intend to seek an audience with Governor Governor Satya Pal Malik seeking his intervention to delay the upcoming council polls until the employees are paid all of their pending salaries that has crossed well over two long years.
The GHADC elections are slated for April 9 and the state government estimates the expenditure for the entire polls to touch Rs 15 crore.
The association in a release maintained that just as the holding of elections is a constitutional mandate that requires to be followed, likewise, right to one’s dues for work undertaken also needs to be followed.
The association accused the state of failing to release royalty share of the GHADC which could have been used to clear the pending dues.
