NONGSTOIN, March 25: With an objective to educate anemic mothers, pregnant mothers, nursing mothers and children on the need to consume nutritious food in their daily lives, a week-long Poshan Pakhwada is being organised by the office of the District Programme Officer (Integrated Child Development Services), Nongstoin in different parts of West Khasi Hills.
The first Poshan Pakhwada was held at Pyndengumiong Mairang on March 24, and the rest are scheduled on— March 30 at Nonglang Anganwadi Centres falling under Mawshynrut Block and March 31 at Mawlangkhar Mawthadraishan Block.
On Thursday, the programme was organised at Mawkadiang AWCs on the theme ‘Awareness Programme on Nutrition Rich Plant/Poshan Vatika’, in presence of T Lyngwa, Deputy Commissioner, PD Sangma, ADM, CP Mawkon, BDO (Nongstoin), and a team of Ayush doctors among others.
The programme was attended by pregnant women, adolescents, children, Aganwadi workers among others.
