TURA, March 31: In a major relief to the people from Tura, all the contacts of the 20 inmates of the boys’ hostel at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School have tested negative for COVID-19.
The hostel inmates on Monday were tested positive for COVID-19, ensuing apprehensions afresh.
The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Ram Singh, on Wednesday allayed fears, saying that there has been no further spread of the virus.
Singh said that subsequent to the cases being reported, contact tracing was carried out during which, all the contacts have tested negative for COVID.
“The boys are all keeping well and they are asymptomatic. Doctors are monitoring them and good food is being provided in the hostel. The school will reopen after completion of the containment period on Monday, April 12,” the West Garo Hills deputy commissioner said in a tweet.
However, cautioning that there has been a spike in COVID-19 cases in other parts of India, Ram Singh reminded all, including teachers above 45 years of age, to get vaccinated against COVID-19 from April 1 onwards.
