Around 5K receive financial assistance in South Shillong

SHILLONG, July 25: The vulnerable group of residents of the Shillong Cantonment area falling under South Shillong Constituency, particularly those working in teer counters, taxi drivers and daily wagers, among others, were provided financial relief at Anjalee Parking Lot on Sunday as part of the culminating phase of South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai’s initiative to help those affected by the pandemic-induced lockdown.
The MLA has provided financial assistance of Rs 2000 each to as many as 5,000 beneficiaries from fourteen localities of his constituency, a statement informed.
The MLA has provided the relief through the Special Urban Works Programme Scheme 2021-2022 and his one-year MLA salary.
