SHILLONG, Sep 10: Continuing his tirade against the Conrad Sangma-led government, Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma, has stated that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) does not accord priority to governance, while maintaining that the focus of the government does not revolve around the larger interest of the people.
“We can clearly witness that the incumbent government’s focus and priorities are not on governance,” Mukul told reporters here on Friday.
According to him, the government has failed to deal with issues, be it relating to implementation programmes, dealing with law and order situation or the vexed interstate border dispute with Assam.
“The deteriorating law and order situation is an outcome of a government whose priorities are somewhere else and not on governance. Sadly, there is a government but there is no governance. This whole development is the ultimate result of lack of governance which can best be attributed to lack of focus and shifting of priorities by this government,” the Opposition Leader observed.
Taking a dig at the deteriorating law and order situation, Mukul said that the state government has failed to take stock of the law and order scenario right from Day 1.
Referring to the closure of the Mawlai Bypass for vehicles coming from ISBT site, he cast aspersions on the government over the move, stating that the bypass serves as an important road for smooth movement of vehicles.
