SHILLONG, Sep 17: Taking a cue from the Centre’s India Enterprise Architecture (IndEA), a framework called Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture (MeghEA) designed to implement integrated digital service system in the governance process was jointly launched by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Union Minister of Ministry of Information and Technology (MeitY), Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Meghalaya has become the first state to implement IndEA as MeghEA and promote Enterprise Architecture to digitise governance process.
Before getting into the vision of MeghEA, it becomes pertinent to understand that IndEA is an initiative of the Centre to promote digital governance in the country and aims to expedite the delivery service system in the governance process.
The MeghEA project has been designed with an objective to transform traditional service delivery process into a digital service system. The implementation of this project includes integration of multiple digital platforms, to be integrated seamlessly through modern technology with an intention to digitise the government system and provide quick and easy service to its citizens, according to a statement.
During the launch of the project, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw maintained that the MeghEA will positively impact North East as far as Telecom reform is concerned, while adding that the Government of India is extending its support to Meghalaya to ensure that the people of the state get the best out of services.
The chief minister on the other hand, in his address, stated that the MeghEA is a blueprint towards digital implementation even as he exuded confidence in the initiative to transform the governance process and ensure best-in-class service delivery mechanism at grassroots level. The chief minister, however, emphasised on training of manpower in IT, which, according to him, needs to be done properly.
