Business meet on agro-products

SHILLONG, Oct 8: The Agri Business Incubation (ABI), ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Umiam, organised a one-day ‘Business Meet on Promotion of Specialty Agro-Products’, which was attended by over 75 entrepreneurs from the North East. Some highlights of the programme include an MoU-signing between between Na Ri and ICAR, launched of an Android app to help reduce the information gap among entrepreneurs, launch of various products, among others. ICAR Director, Dr. VK Mishra, during his address, advocated self-reliance and said that it time to transition from being job-seekers to job providers.

Anti-ragging awareness talk
SHILLONG, Oct 8: The Anti-Ragging Cell of Shillong College on Friday organised an online awareness talk ‘Say No to Ragging’ for its students. Resource person for the programme, Advocate Nakilin G Shylla highlighted the need for students to be aware of what constitutes ragging and what steps they could take to seek redressal. Shylla applauded the college for taking concrete steps to curb the menace of ragging. College Principal Dr. E Kharkongor said that the Anti-Ragging Cell was constituted to look into the welfare and safety of all students from various abuses tantamount to ragging.

City lad wins laurel at int’l event
SHILLONG, Oct 8: A postgraduate of National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, Anirban Paul, hailing from Shillong, along with two of his peers — Chitra Rajpal and Neel Karnik — have won laurels at the Asian Policy Challenge Conference 2021. The trio represented India along with 63 other teams from the country. A total of 273 teams from different countries partook in the event. An idea of the trio at the conference was voted as the best idea from South Asia. The theme of the challenge was ‘Sustaining Vulnerable Livelihoods Amidst the Pandemic’. The conference was organised over a span of three days starting October 4 and the results were declared on Thursday. Anirban and team along with other winners will now present their idea at a conclave of Asian Policy Challenge Conference, which will be held in February next year.

Programme on Swachhta
SHILLONG, Oct 8: The Field Outreach Bureau, Nongstoin, an attached office under the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in co-ordination with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Nongstoin organised an integrated communication and outreach programme on ‘Swachhta & COVID-Appropriate Behaviour’ at Upper Laitkseh, West Khasi Hills, on Wednesday. A Free COVID-19 vaccination camp was also organised at the venue and prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing, extempore speech and quiz competitions.
