SHILLONG, Dec 12: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) will organise a one-day peaceful sit-in near All India Radio station opposite Raj Bhavan from 11 am on December 17.
“This agitation is to express our unhappiness over the non-fulfilment of our demand to bring 844 Ad Hoc Upper Primary schools in state under the deficit system,” the teachers’ body said in a statement.
“Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had agreed to upgrade all the Ad Hoc Upper Primary schools to the deficit pattern during a teachers’ conference held in 2018 at Tura but till date nothing had happened,” MUPSTA reminded.
The Association has asked all the ad hoc upper primary teachers under the banner of MUPSTA to attend the demonstration. “The government should understand how we suffer with a meagre grant given to us,” it added.
