Bongiya Sahitya Parishad, Shillong, on December 11 organised a virtual discussion on the topic ‘The Present Scenario of Bengali literary Activities in North Eastern India’. The speakers for the discussion were former Vice Chancellors of Assam University, Silchar, Prof Topodhir Bhattacharya, and Prof JB Bhattacharya, who is also the incumbent president of the Parishad. Parishad’s general secretary, Dhananjay Chakrabarty, on the other hand, conducted the discussion.

The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that rice for December and wholemeal atta for the months of November and December have been made available for NFSA and non-NFSA customers at respective fair price shops. According to a statement, AAY quota of rice will be distributed at the scale of 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg, PHH quota at the scale of 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg and non-NFSA at the scale of 7.215 kg per household at Rs 12.70 to Rs. 13 per kg. Atta, on the other, will be distributed at the scale of 5 kg per card per month in urban areas and 3 kg per card per month in rural areas at Rs 10.50 per kg.
