SHILLONG, Dec 27: Peeved with the prolonged delay, Congress MLA from Mawlai, PT Sawkmie, has questioned the silence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.
“We want to know why the Union Home Minister is silent about the ILP demand in the state of Meghalaya,” Sawkmie said.
Demanding of the Home Minister to expedite the issue, the MLA also said that the ‘draconian’ Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) should be repealed not only from Nagaland but from the entire North East.
The statement comes from Sawkmie after the Centre decided to constitute a five-member committee to look into the withdrawal of AFSPA from the Northeastern state.
