Chief Minister announces various development projects for West Jaintia Hills

Jowai, Feb 9: Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma  today anounced various developmental projects in West Jaintia HIlls particularly within Jowai Constituency.

The Chief Minister made the announcement during his speech on the occasion of laying a foundation stone for construction of the new dairy complex at Mukhla Umlangshor village in West Jaintia HIlls District.

The Chief Minister informed that the Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) in Jowai would be inaugurated soon in a month or two. He informed that Rs. 20 crores had been sanction for the construction of mini secretariat in Jowai and  the construction work would begin soon.

“For the beautification of Jowai town, Rs. 12 crore have been sanction and the work have been alloted to a contractors and the work should have been started if not hopefully it will start in a week or so”, Chief Minister informed

In terms of road infrastructure, the chief minister informed that for development of internal roads within Jowai town Rs. 23 crore had been santioned from the World Bank project of Meghalaya integrated Transport project and also Rs 5 crore from the RIDF for development of Internal Road at Mihmyntdu village, Rs. 55 crores for Jowai by pass and Rs. 44 crores for construction of the Jowai Amlarem Road (7km) and the construction work is going on in full swing.

For the tourism sector, the chief minister announced that Rs. 35 crore had been sanction for development of Thadlaskein lake.
