Shillong, Feb 9: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh has stated that the AICC cannot dictate terms to the five MLAs even asserting that the MLAs are not in a charity relationship with any party organisation.

Reacting strongly to the news report that the party is planning to take action against them for going ahead to support the NPP-led Government without taking the AICC or MPCC into confidence, Lyngdoh said that there is a system in place within the party and it does not really matter what one individual says by referring to MPCC president, Vincent H. Pala.

She also recalled that the five MLAs had met Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on January 22 with the intention to provide issue based support to the MDA Government.

“Here the million question is why no communication letter was given to the Congress CLP not to go ahead if there was any difficulty or objection to our plan. It would have been good for the AICC or MPCC to write back to us. You cannot dilute the authority of the CLP as we are not a rubber stamp CLP. We are the only surviving five at the party at this point of time,” Lyngdoh said.

Asserting it is difficult to meet the AICC leaders, the CLP leader said that they are now saying that the five MLAS will have to wait for their permission on things which are politically productive for the State.

According to her, the ball is now in the court of the MPCC even as suggested on the need to debate within the house of the party.

“Five MLAs cannot be ignored by anyone. You did not mandate us to the Legislative Assembly. If you still refuse to listen to us then you are responsible for the damage of the party in the State,” Lyngdoh said.

When asked about the support of the BJP to the MDA government, the CLP leader said that the two MLAs of the BJP in the State are part of this government is none of their problem.

“We are interested in a strategic location for ourselves. We had lost 12 MLAs and you did not react. But we are survivors and we did not want to fight with any system,” she said.

Lyngdoh said that it is always the AICC who has been blamed for the rubbish that is taking place in the party.

“It will be against the interest of the party if it takes action against us. We would like to leave it to your wisdom to decide,” the CLP leader said.

Stating that they are thankful to the party for giving them a jersey in 2018, Lyngdoh also made it clear that they will not desert you and not ditch the party.

She said: “But you can no longer control us. Listen to us as this will be for the good of the party in the State of Meghalaya. Otherwise do what you want, We are not running a charity organisation and we are responsible for the people who have elected us,”.

The CLP leader said that they are giving the AICC and MPCC a proper plan of action.

“Please take our suggestion since we are players. Please don’t take the decision without our knowledge. Lots of the decisions were taken without our knowledge. We strongly object to this. We are the only remaining force so respect us,” she added.
