SHILLONG, Feb 12: MPCC working president Deborah Marak is optimistic about the Congress despite after the party being crippled by large-scale defections, especially in Garo Hills.
The Congress party may be in disarray especially in Garo Hills where the grand old party does not have even a single MLA right now, but Deborah Marak is of the view that the party has enough potential leaders even at the booth-level.
When asked how the party is going to prepare itself in Garo Hills now, she said, “The party has a system of block committee and even booth level where we have many members from the grass root level.”
She said that the party may not have an MLA or MDC but it does have its own establishments where it has several presidents and members and they are going to strengthen the party. It may be mentioned that the Congress party lost a bunch of its MLAs when all the eight party MLAs from Garo Hills shifted to AITC.
