SHILLONG, Feb 23: An RTI activist on Wednesday claimed that he has filed an RTI seeking information on the job vacancies in the various government departments, after he was requested by central intelligence agencies stationed in the state, as per his claims.
Talking to reporters, RTI activist Disparsing Rani said that the intelligence agencies are concerned with why a large number of vacancies are not being filled up yet, in a state as small as Meghalaya.
According to him, the state government is unable to utilise the funds earmarked by the Centre and every year it had to surrender substantial amount of funds to Delhi.
“This clearly reflects as to why the government is not able to utilise the funds earmarked by the Centre,” the RTI activist stated.
Meanwhile, he informed that there are a total number of 468 vacancies in the PWD, PHE, Forest, Labour and Health departments as per fresh RTI information which he had received. Earlier, Rani had also claimed that there are more than 1,700 vacant posts in various government departments with more than 500 of these in the Health department alone.
