Renowned singer passes away

SHILLONG, April 6: One of the renowned singers in Khasi-Jaintia Hills region, Leomon Warbah, passed away on Wednesday.
She was around 87 years old.
Warbah, a resident of Lumparing Kynjat Phutbol, was a top-grade artiste at All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan.
Her recorded songs were sent to Delhi, along with the songs of Skendrowel Syiemlieh and Helen Giri, for audition and they were selected for AIR.
She composed more than 100 songs.
The granddaughter of U Soso Tham, the renowned poet of Meghalaya, Leomon Warbah was the mother of June Warbah and George E Warba.
Her funeral will be held at the cemetery of the Grace Covenant Church, Lawsohtun, at 1 pm on Friday.
