Students get sensitised on drug use

SHILLONG, April 21: An awareness programme on Wednesday sensitised students on the ill effects of substance abuse and the ways and means to combat the drug menace in the society.
The awareness programme was organised by the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills at Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School, Shillong, in collaboration with the office of the District Child Protection Officer, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police and New Hope De-addiction Centre, Shillong.
Project Coordinator of New Hope De-addiction Centre, K Syiemlieh, during the programme, apprised the gathering of the Shillong-based rehabilitation centre and the services provided there.
The students were also informed about POCSO Act and were sensitised on mental healthcare as well as other adolescence-related issues.
