SHILLONG, April 26: The MeECL Progressive Workers’ Union has petitioned Power Minister Prestone Tynsong for regularisation of services.
The Union, while maintaining that some of the casual and contractual employees have been working in the Corporation for over a decade, has also asked Tynsong to expedite the process of regularisation.
They have also suggested that a special committee may be set up to examine and frame a policy with specific timeframe and submit its report to the government for its consideration.
The Union has also moved Labour Minister Sanbor Shullai, asking him to ensure that a notification for revision of the rate of minimum wages is published by first week of March and September every year so as to order to avoid unnecessary preparation and payment of arrears.
